Ultrasound

Had my Ultrasound today. It was an anxiety driven experience for sure. My old Dr. used to do it herself and would walk me through it all. But here, it is a technician and she didn't say a word for like 10 minutes. Then she asked me, "Have you ever had uterine fibroids?". Nope. A few more moments of silence and she asks me, "Have you had cramping or bleeding?". Nope. A few more minutes and then, "Do you have both of your ovaries?". WHAT?? By that time, I just said, "Do you see a baby?", and she said, "Oh, yes, but I have to get all these other measurements first". She said my uterine lining was really thick so she thought maybe I had fibroids. And she could only find one ovary, so she was worried about an ectopic pregnancy. But the radiologist looked at everything and said it all looks great. Phew. The technician scared me to death. Than she finally showed me the baby. Heartbeat was 171 and the baby measured big. Which was not a surprise to me! But they changed my due date to April 4th instead of the 10th. So, I jumped a week ahead and am now 11 weeks. Woo Hoo. I feel a little bit better now seeing the baby and the heartbeat. I go to the Dr. on Friday and I might ask her about the other stuff, just to make sure.

  1. I am surprised they changed the due date. Usually they wont do that until your 20 week ultrasound. So don't count on it, that might make it even longer!!!!!!! :) Besides, don't you know when you got pregnant pretty much? Just tell them.....

  2. I don't like ultrasound techs--they don't say anything and keep clicking on things. Of course you always think the worst. I would ask your doctor for sure about the fibroids and ovary. Peace of mind would be nice. Glad everything went well. Will you find out if it is a girl or boy this time? Please do--for me:)
